Natural Angles for a Confident Look: Otoplasty

A permanent aesthetic touch that corrects deformities and protruding ears without damaging the cartilage structure, restoring them to their natural angle and boosting your confidence in your social life.

Why Otoplasty (Prominent Ear Correction) Surgery?

Otoplasty is a surgical procedure performed when the angle between the auricle and the skull is wider than normal, or when the ear folds are not sufficiently developed. This condition, which can create psychological distress from childhood, can be resolved permanently and in a highly natural way with modern surgical techniques. Our goal is not to create an ear that looks "attached to the head," but rather an aesthetic and undetectable result that conforms to the golden ratio of the face.

A result with hidden traces, but self-confidence is evident.

One of the most common mistakes in otoplasty (ear correction) is creating an unnatural look by excessively attaching the ear to the head. At Dr. Nurten Küçük, in my surgical planning, I utilize the natural elasticity of the cartilage and perform the procedure through incisions hidden in the crease behind the ear. This ensures that the surgical scar is completely invisible from the outside. I aim for a permanent, natural, and aesthetically pleasing result in both adults and children that is undetectable as having undergone any intervention.

Surgical Procedure

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia (numbing only the ear) in adults and under general anesthesia in children, and takes an average of 1-1.5 hours. Hospitalization is not required; you can return home the same day.

The First Week

A special bandage is applied to protect the ear after the surgery. After 1 week, this bandage is removed and replaced with a sports (tennis) bandana that you only wear at night while sleeping. Return to work and social life is very quick.

Lasting Results

The new shape given to the cartilage is permanent. Since the incisions are behind the ear, there is no scarring issue. After the slight swelling in the first few weeks subsides, the ear fully regains its natural softness and appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most suitable age for otoplasty (ear surgery)?

Thanks to modern cartilage shaping and permanent suturing techniques, the risk of the ear returning to its original open state (opening again) is negligible. The applied shape is permanent for life.

No. In adults, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so the area is completely numb, and you will only feel a slight sensation during the surgery; there will be no pain. Any mild discomfort after the surgery can be easily relieved with painkillers.

Generally, you can take a warm shower 3-4 days after the surgery, once your bandages are removed and with your doctor's approval. However, it is important to protect the ear area from harsh movements and hot hair dryers during the first few weeks.
