Non-invasive and bloodless sinusitis treatment: Balloon Sinoplasty
Say goodbye to chronic sinusitis pain and persistent facial pressure without causing any damage to your tissues. Just like opening a blocked coronary artery, we widen your sinus passages in seconds with the help of a special balloon; instantly experiencing painless, bloodless breathing and the most comfortable breathing you've ever had.
What is Balloon Sinoplasty and How Does it Work?
- Sinusitis patients who do not respond to medication and have chronic pain in the forehead and cheeks.
- Those who are afraid of classic sinus surgery (due to the risks of incisions, bleeding, and nasal packing)
- Those who want to return to work or social life the day after surgery
- Suitable cases without nasal polyps (tissue growths) or severe fungal infections.
- Comfort-oriented patients who want to minimize postoperative pain and recovery time.
The Gentlest Sinusitis Surgery, Respecting Tissues.
Many of my patients with chronic sinusitis prefer to endure this pain for years because they fear the post-operative recovery period. As Dr. Nurten Küçük, I particularly prefer Balloon Sinoplasty technology in my patients with suitable anatomical structures. Because our philosophy in this method is not 'to cut or tear', but 'to gently widen and preserve'. Since we do not damage the mucous membrane and bone structures, my patients experience almost no facial pain or bleeding problems like in classic surgeries when they wake up from surgery. They feel the freshness of those clean sinuses that are opened in just seconds.
No incisions and no bleeding.
No bones or tissues inside the nose are cut during the procedure. Only a microscopic expansion is achieved through the pressure created by the balloon. Therefore, the risk of bleeding is negligible, and no nasal packing is used.
Fast and Secure Transaction
It can be performed under general anesthesia or, depending on the patient's condition, under local anesthesia (sedation). It is an extremely quick and safe procedure. It carries no risk of damaging surrounding tissues (eyes and meninges).
Return to Daily Life in 24 Hours
The biggest advantage of balloon sinoplasty is its incredibly fast recovery process. Most patients can return to their normal lives, desk jobs, and social routines within 24 hours of the procedure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the balloon stay inside my nose?
Absolutely not. The balloon is only inserted into the blocked passage while deflated, inflated to conform to the shape of the passage (providing dilation), and then immediately deflated and completely removed. No foreign object is left inside your nose.
Is balloon sinoplasty a suitable procedure for everyone?
It is a great solution for blockages in the frontal, maxillary, and sphenoid sinuses. However, if the sinuses are filled with nasal polyps (large growths) or have serious fungal infections, the balloon cannot eliminate these masses. In such cases, we need to perform classic Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS). The final decision is made after examination and tomography results.
Can the dilated sinus passages close again over time?
Balloon dilation creates a permanent "micro-fracture" and remodeling in the bone and cartilage structure, so the results are permanent. In correctly diagnosed patients, the likelihood of the canal closing again and sinusitis recurring is extremely low.
Can it be combined with septoplasty (nasal bone curvature) surgery?
Yes, they are often performed together. If you have both nasal cartilage deviation and sinusitis, septoplasty (deviation) and balloon sinoplasty can be successfully performed in the same session under a single anesthesia.
