The Beginning of Easier Breathing: Septoplasty

Say goodbye permanently to nasal cartilage and bone deviations, the biggest cause of sleeping with your mouth open, snoring, and chronic fatigue. With this modern surgery performed only from inside the nose, leaving no external scars, breathe in that fresh, healthy breath again.

What is Septoplasty (Deviation Surgery)?

The septum is a wall-like structure made of cartilage and bone that divides the nasal cavity into two halves. A deviation of the septum to the right or left, either due to congenital genetic causes or trauma, is called "septal deviation." Septoplasty is a procedure that corrects these deviated sections obstructing the airway inside the nose, without altering the external shape of the nose. Healthy breathing is a fundamental requirement for quality sleep, a strong immune system, and an energetic body. Septoplasty surgery restores these qualities to your body.

A healthy nose should allow for perfect breathing from the inside.

As an ENT and Facial Surgery specialist, I always approach nasal anatomy as a whole. My fundamental principle in Septoplasty surgeries, as Dr. Nurten Küçük, is to repair only the problematic tissues obstructing the airway with millimeter precision, without ever damaging the nose's natural supporting columns (roof). By breaking cartilage memory (the tendency of cartilage to return to its original curved shape) with special techniques, I eliminate the risk of postoperative nasal collapse and provide my patients with uninterrupted breathing for life.

Comfortable and Scarless Surgery

The procedure is performed in a fully equipped hospital setting under general anesthesia and takes an average of 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the patient's condition. Since the surgery is performed entirely through the nose (closed), there will be no incisions, swelling, or bruising on your face.

New Generation Silicone Tampons

We do not use the old, frightening gauze tampons that were painful to remove in our clinic. We use new generation, soft "silicone sheet tampons" with holes in the middle (allowing you to breathe). Removal takes seconds and is completely painless.

Fast Recovery and Return to Work

After surgery, you are usually discharged the same day or the next morning after being kept under observation for one night. You can easily return to your desk job and daily social life in about 3-4 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be any change in the external shape of my nose after septoplasty surgery?

No, septoplasty is only a functional surgery aimed at correcting curvatures inside the nose (in the airway). If you also want to aesthetically change the external appearance of your nose (hug, drooping nasal tip, etc.) in the same session, this should be planned as "Septorhinoplasty". Both surgeries can be successfully performed in a single session.

Septoplasty is definitely not a painful surgery. Since the outer bone of the nose is not broken, our patients usually have a very comfortable recovery period with simple painkillers prescribed by our doctor. It is only normal to have a slight feeling of pressure and fullness inside the nose for the first few days.

With correct surgical techniques, taking into account cartilage memory and strengthening the nasal bridge, a successful septoplasty operation is not expected to result in a recurrence of the curvature. It is a permanent solution for life. Only very severe new traumas (blows) to the nose can change this.

Nasal congestion in most patients is caused by the coexistence of both deviated septum (curvature of the nasal septum) and turbinate hypertrophy (enlargement of the nasal turbinates). A definitive diagnosis is made with a detailed endoscopic examination performed in our clinic. If both problems are present, both are treated simultaneously during surgery (septoplasty + radiofrequency).
