This energy initiates a microscopic healing (shrinkage) process in the inner layers of the tissue without burning the mucosal surface. As the tissue heals from the inside over weeks, the sagging palate tightens, the thick base of the tongue loses volume and shrinks, and the narrow passageway through which you breathe permanently
